Breast Cancer Awareness MonthDid you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? This yearly campaign, organized by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, aims to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer on women and their families. By raising awareness, donating, and advocating for this important cause, we can support early detection and help save lives.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events in Baltimore
Spinnaker Bay residents, let’s work together to make a difference this October. There are some great events this month to raise awareness and collect donations for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Bullseyes to Battle Breast Cancer
Ever wanted to try axe throwing? Check out this fun fundraiser on Thursday, October 13th at 7pm. Half of each ticket sale will be donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, plus you’ll get to enjoy food, drinks, and an exhilarating axe-throwing tournament. Make sure to purchase a ticket in advance to secure your spot.

Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk
Get your steps in and contribute to an amazing cause at the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk. On October 22nd, visit Camden Yards to join in for a walk around the area. They’ll also be accepting donations for breast cancer research at the event.

Luke McFadden's BreastFest Crab Feast
Join Luke McFadden’s final hurrah before crab season comes to a close from 3-6pm on Sunday, October 30th. Feast on some fresh Baltimore crab and give a donation to the Horizon Day Camp, an organization that provides for Baltimore-area children impacted by cancer.

14th Annual Pampering Pink Survivors Breast Cancer Fundraiser
Support the Janet Hall Foundation at a fundraiser event on Saturday, October 22nd. The foundation provides underserved breast cancer patients and survivors with spa treatments to support their mental and physical well-being.

Halloween Party to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
On Friday, October 28th, head to Bondhouse Fell’s Point to party for a cause. They’ll be serving festive spooky cocktails, for which a portion of each sale will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Make a Donation
If you’re not able to attend any of these events, making a donation is a great way to get involved.

Based in Maryland, The Brem Foundation contributes toward breast cancer awareness in our local community. The foundation is inspired by the work and story of Dr. Rachel Brem, a breast cancer survivor, doctor, and researcher who helped build a multidisciplinary breast cancer program at George Washington University. If you’d like to make a donation in support of the foundation, visit their website for more information.

FashionIf you’re a Spinnaker Bay resident, chances are you already know that Habor East is an amazing place to live, work, and play. Home to high-end shopping, exciting dining experiences, and spectacular harbor views, our neighborhood has so much to offer. There is always something new to explore!

Join us for a FashionEASTa Fashion Show
Harbor East also hosts some amazing events. It’s easy to fill your calendar with fun activities just steps from your home here at Spinnaker Bay.

One of our favorite events of the year is happening this month––Habor East’s very own fashion show, which takes place on Saturday, September 17th from 12-5pm. The annual FashionEASTa show brings together our neighborhood’s talented creatives, incredible businesses, and wonderful community.

Starting at 2:30pm, models will take to the runway to start a photo-worthy show. The coolest part? The fashions on the runway could be in your closet, thanks to the show’s #weartherunway campaign. Models will be wearing clothes available directly from local Harbor East shops. You’ll definitely be inspired to do a wardrobe refresh!

The party on Aliceanna Street continues all day long. Alongside the fashion show, you can indulge in great refreshments from local vendors. There will be selections from some popular Harbor East spots including Apropoe's, Azumi, Bar One, Bin 604 Wine + Spirits, Lebanese Taverna, Loch Bar, The Oceanaire Seafood Room, and Ouzo Bay. You can also check out great live entertainment by the Royals band from 12pm-2pm.

Register here for VIP tickets, which grant you access to coveted runway seats, all-day garage parking, an exclusive (and super chic) FashionEASTa shopping tote, and vouchers for food and beverages. Want the best seats in the house? You can upgrade your VIP package with front-row seats. Plus, a portion of all ticket sales benefits Art With a Heart, a local organization and this year’s official charity partner.

#HarborEastLove
We’re so excited about this celebration of Habor East’s creativity and community. Living here is truly special, and it’s all thanks to you and your neighbors! Tell us why you love living in Harbor East on social media, @SpinnakerBayApts

Labor Day WeekendLabor Day weekend commemorates the end of Summer, but it’s also a tribute to the men and women that work every day. A national holiday since 1894, Labor Day has been celebrated in several countries, including the United States, Canada, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Other European countries and China celebrate May Day for workers and labor unions. If you're looking for a quick trip to take during your days off, here are some suggestions that are driveable from Baltimore!

Coastal Towns
St. Michael’s
One of America's best small coastal towns is St. Michaels, Maryland. This historic town is only 2 hours away and has several attractions, such as narrated historical cruises, sailing tours, brew fests, and museums. Get a bite from The Galley, or one of their other esteemed restaurants while down there before shopping for gifts.

Tilghman Island
Tilghman Island is just 2.5 hours away and offers a nice relaxing stay, where you can take it slow near the water. Several inns offer water views and experiences, so don't be afraid to go fishing in the nearby waters! The Tilghman Country Store also sells local seafood and fresh-baked goods, with the Fairbank tackle holding all the fishing supplies you need. This small town is guaranteed to give you a getaway that highlights the charm of small-town life.

Beaches
OCMD

If you're looking for a beach getaway, Ocean City, Maryland is the perfect place. Lovely bed and breakfasts, as well as several hotels and motels, are dotted along the beach for your accommodation. Check out parasailing or paddle boarding one day, then travel to one of the seventeen championship golf courses the next. Don't forget to shop at the national outlet mall!

Rehoboth Beach
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is this nation's summer capital. Named one of the best beaches on the east coast, this cozy town is home to a mile-long boardwalk lined with charming shops and restaurants, and a year-round experience of festivals and competitions. Be sure to grab an ice cream cone or some fries while walking down the boardwalk!

Dewey Beach
Dewey Beach, Delaware has high energy, fun bars, and great views. Places like the Bottle & Cork offer live entertainment and local cuisine to pair with the sunset views. Several water sport activities are available, including wakeboarding, stand-up paddle boarding, and parasailing. There is also a shuttle bus that takes you to the nearby Rehoboth boardwalk.

Cape May
With elegant architectural diversity, beautiful beaches, and a deep history, Cape May is made to be a coastal town worth visiting. With several other neighboring towns with their own attractions, Cape May has been the destination for beachgoers since the 18th century. Go bird watching, visit the Washington Street Mall, or rent a bike to travel through this bike-friendly city. Be sure to check out the water activities at the waterparks or on the beach!

Camping & Adventure
Assateague Island

Assateague Island is a wonderful beach experience filled with wild horses, salty marshes, and forests. If you plan to go camping, remember to buy firewood locally. Go hiking, bike down the trails, or take a kayak out on the water. Be sure to check the website for operating hours and camping instructions.

Harper’s Ferry
Over at Harper’s Ferry, just a 1.5-hour drive from Baltimore, you can explore museums and exhibits at Lower Town showcasing different historical events from the 19th century. With over 20 miles of hiking trails, there are also several opportunities to explore the views of the mountains and historic battlefields. There are also several outdoor activities available, such as rafting, climbing, and picnicking.

Lakes
Deep Creek

The largest freshwater lake in Maryland, Deep Creek, was built in 1925 and is fed by several natural springs. The four seasons resort offers a mountain coaster, rafting, ziplining, and other outdoor activities. There are also seven state parks to explore in the area and the Deep Creek Fun Zone, home to arcades, laser tag, and more!

Poconos
The four-county region of the Poconos in Pennsylvania offers a range of activities and sights to behold. With waterparks and adventure parks, as well as over a hundred lakes, there is no shortage of things to do here! Feel free to take a scenic train tour along the railways or tour one of the history museums.

Happy Labor Day
At Spinnaker Bay, we know you work hard, so we hope you enjoy your much-deserved time off. If you do visit any of these destinations, be sure to tag us in your photos, @SpinnakerBayApts.

Ice creamThe sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the activities are endless in Baltimore this summer! Spinnaker Bay residents, your summer of sports, good eats, new movies, and more has arrived! Check out our essential Baltimore summer activities.

Let’s Go O’s
Take yourself, your friends, and your family out to the ball game! Nothing beats watching the Baltimore Orioles, sipping on a Natty Boh, and munching on a Stuggy’s Mac n Cheese Hot Dog in the summer. On July 24, the Orioles have a special event, the Annual Food and Funds Drive. Bring canned goods and monetary donations for the Maryland Food Bank!

Now, if you want to participate in the sports yourself, head to the Inner Harbor for a little beach volleyball. All summer long, Baltimore Beach hosts drop-in games, clinics, and tournaments. Get those competitive juices flowing and take in the gorgeous views of the Baltimore skyline this summer.

Outdoor Adventures
Flicks from the Hill, hosted by the American Visionary Art Museum, is a free outdoor movie night from 5 to 9 pm! Grab a blanket, some candy, and popcorn, and watch Jurrasic Park, The Birds, or Disney’s Soul, on top of Federal Hill. You won't want to miss this!

Living in Baltimore, we are fortunate to live near the harbor and water. A cool breeze from the water during the hot summer sun is at its prime on the Baltimore Water Taxi. Schedule a cruise to sail around, view history, and take some Instagram-worthy photos on the Water Taxi. If your days are packed, don't worry! The BYO Twilight Cruise is for you! Bring some drinks and friends on a stunning nighttime cruise around the harbor.

Food and Drinks
Baltimore Crabs: they are simply unbeatable. Enjoy the best of Maryland crab cuisine at Captain James. In addition to classic steamed crabs, they offer Crab Spanakopita, the Po’Boy, Surfin Turf Salad, Snow Crab Legs, Mac n Cheese with added crab meat — Captain James is the cornucopia of Maryland crabs!

Outdoor Bars, like Little Havana, Sandlot, and Ouzo Beach, are prepped and ready to serve cocktails and delicious meals all summer. The Mykonos Ruins and Olympian’s Delight bring a summery Greek flavor to Ouzo Beach, which is located right around the corner from Spinnaker Bay.

Open every day, Little Havanas offers brunch, dinner, and specialty house drinks like spicy margaritas and skinny mules.

Walk, drive, or boat to get to Sandlot! Purchase tickets for the biggest event of the summer: Tropic Thunder Throwdown on Saturday, July 23. Come ready to dance, mingle, and have a great time!

Sweet Treats
No summer is complete without a Snowball of your favorite flavor. Snowballs, shaved ice covered in flavored syrup, is a true Baltimore classic. Dating back to the mid-1800s, snowballs are a true summer delight.

Wanting a classic snowball? Head to Icy Delights in Brewer’s Hill where snowballs and ice cream have been served since 1992.

Hoping to expand your snowball experience? Check out Quality Snowballs for a more non-traditional, gourmet shaved ice treat like the Fried Ice Cream Snowball or Hawaiian Coffee snowball.

Supporting locally, black female-owned businesses? IceQueens, started by 22-year-old Dasia Kabia, serves it all — snowballs, desserts, snacks, and more. With special treats like pride snowball colors in a rainbow and Minion snowballs for the new movie release, your heart and tummy will be happy at IceQueens!

Enjoy Summer
